April 15, 2024 - St. John's was blessed to have the dynamic author, quilt artist, teacher, and chemical engineer Gyleen X. Fitzgerald with us to share her journey and how the support of her family and God's presence have been there every step of the way.
As a young student with dyslexia, she learned that you could leave an everlasting imprint on this world by publishing a book since it would then be on record with the Library of Congress. How does one accomplish this, especially when writing and reading were so very difficult?! Where there is a will, there is a way. Gyleen did not take no for an answer very lightly on many occasions. Often, she used the initial "no" to take an unexpected path into a deeper lesson and emerged later on the other side of the situation realizing she had been a conduit for a larger purpose all along.
Gyleen's love of math (tessellations, lines, patterns, textures) comes through in her work. Her joy of teaching is evident. The wisdom gained from witnessing so many manifestations coming to fruition over and over is truly remarkable to hear.
If you have a chance to join a talk, workshop, or want to support Gyleen's work, please find her here: https://www.colourfulstitches.com/
St. John's and Holy Trinity Episcopal appreciate the support of the community with this event.
